A Nostr Vault share link opens the post in any web browser. The person you send it to needs no account and nothing to install to read it.
Sharing a post
Share or copy a link
Open the … menu on any post.
- Share opens your phone's share sheet, so you can send the link in a message, an email or
another app. On Android it's titled Share Note.
- Copy Link (Android and web: Copy link) puts the link on your
clipboard and shows Link copied.
The link looks like https://nostrvault.app/thread/nevent1…. The
nevent part names the post and its author, so the link works without any account and doesn't
depend on one relay.
Articles, videos and other posts have a Share button too, and give the same kind of link.
In a chat or a feed
The link preview
When you paste the link in a chat app or a social site, it shows a preview card: the author's name
("… on Nostr"), the start of the post, and the photo if the post has one.
What they see
Opening a link, with or without an account
The link opens the post in the Nostr Vault web app, in any normal browser.
- No account? They read the post and its replies as a guest. A bar at the top says
Viewing as a guest, with Get the app and Sign in.
They can open profiles and hashtags and come back to the post.
- Want to reply or like? Liking, replying, reposting and zapping need them to sign in.
After signing in, the web app opens on the same post.
- Already signed in to the web app in that browser? The post opens in their account.
A guest visit keeps nothing. Nothing is signed, and nothing is saved in the browser once the tab is closed.
Photos load from their usual media server. If one can't be loaded there, the browser fetches it from the
author's own device over the mesh. See The mesh.
Deleted posts. If the author deletes the post, the link says
This post was deleted by its author. Anyone who already saw it may still have a copy, as
with anything you post publicly on Nostr.

Sharing photos into Nostr Vault
You can also send photos and videos from your Photos app or gallery to Nostr Vault, to upload them to your
media server (Blossom).
- iPhone: pick up to 20 photos and 20 videos, tap Share, choose Nostr Vault, then
Add to Blossom upload queue. Open Nostr Vault, or tap the
Ready to upload to Blossom notification, to finish the upload.
- Android: share one or more photos or videos to Nostr Vault. The upload starts right
away and shows Uploading to Blossom…. Set up your account first.
Uploading needs a public media server; see Settings → Relays → Media
Servers.
